Company
We are supporting a pioneering international AgTech scale-up in its search for a senior commercial leader to build and expand its presence in the Benelux. The company develops autonomous robotic solutions for high-tech greenhouses, already deployed successfully worldwide.
Far from being a typical sales role, it is a strategic, entrepreneurial position: the company’s first full-time commercial leader in Europe, carrying responsibility for market entry, revenue growth, strategic partnerships, and long-term European expansion.
The Benelux—and particularly the Westland region, one of the most advanced greenhouse clusters globally—offers a unique environment where innovation meets scale. From tomato and cucumber mega-greenhouses in the Netherlands to strawberry and ornamental growers in Flanders, this region defines the future of controlled environment agriculture. Your mission: connect this ecosystem with breakthrough robotic technologies that reduce labour dependency, improve pollination, and deliver data-driven yield optimization.
Job
Market leadership
- Define, execute, and continuously refine the Benelux go-to-market strategy.
- Map the regional ecosystem: large-scale vegetable growers in Westland, strawberry and berry clusters in Flanders, cooperatives, and technology integrators.
- Position the company as a trusted partner in high-tech horticulture and controlled environment agriculture.
Business development & partnerships
- Identify, approach, and secure high-value accounts and long-term strategic partners.
- Build relationships with local distributors, greenhouse builders, universities, and innovation hubs.
- Develop joint ventures and pilot programs to accelerate adoption.
Full commercial ownership
- Drive the complete sales cycle: prospecting, needs analysis, ROI modeling, pilots, negotiation, and closing.
- Manage complex stakeholder environments, from farm owners to cooperative boards.
- Forecast, plan, and deliver revenue growth in line with ambitious targets.
Customer and product champion
- Act as the voice of the Benelux customer inside the company.
- Ensure smooth implementation of pilot projects and scale-up to commercial rollouts.
- Translate grower feedback into actionable product insights, influencing roadmap priorities such as pollination, pruning, pest detection, and yield prediction.
Representation and visibility
- Represent the company at key industry events: GreenTech Amsterdam, HortiContact Gorinchem, and other leading trade shows in Belgium and Northwestern Europe.
- Participate actively in regional industry associations and innovation clusters to build presence and credibility.
- Operational and strategic foundations for Europe
- Establish CRM discipline, pipeline management, and KPI reporting for the region.
- Contribute to European P&L thinking: budgeting, resource allocation, ROI evaluation.
- Serve as a cornerstone for future commercial expansion across Europe, shaping the first benchmarks and structures for new hires.
Profile
- Ideally +5 years of B2B business development in horticulture, greenhouse technology, or AgTech.
- Strong exposure to controlled environment agriculture (CEA) and advanced greenhouse operations.
- Candidates with only software/robotics sales experience will also be considered, provided they are active in the greenhouse or controlled environment agriculture sector.
Regional expertise
- Deep knowledge of the Benelux horticultural ecosystem.
- Active network in Westland (NL) and/or Belgium’s high-tech horticultural clusters.
Commercial excellence
- Hunter mentality with the ability to open markets, manage long sales cycles, and close complex, multi-stakeholder deals.
- Experience in both direct sales and partnership-led business development.
Technical affinity
- Strong understanding of greenhouse operations, automation, and the economics of horticulture.
- Ability to translate technical innovations into clear commercial value propositions.
Leadership & influence
- Strategic thinker able to align local execution with global objectives.
- Comfortable interacting with C-level leaders, boards, and international investors.
- Capable of representing the company as a thought leader in the European horticultural community.
Cultural agility & mobility
- Able to balance the agility of a scale-up with the professionalism expected in mature horticultural markets.
- Willingness to travel 30–40% across Northwestern Europe and occasionally North America.

- Direct collaboration with founders and board; fast decision-making, entrepreneurial environment.

- Attractive package with performance incentives and future potential equity participation.
- A mission-driven role: transforming European horticulture through robotics and data.
